A Teenage girl is in the House

We celebrated Wendy's birthday  with a yummy cake and gift giving.  She was planning a party the next day, so her actual birthday was lowkey.  It fell on a Wednesday so she was able to celebrate with the Young Women as well.

June 23rd, Wendy had a birthday party.  She chose to make a book safe craft and have milkshakes rather than cake.  We provided a cookie with a candle for her to blow out.  It is going to be awhile before her wish comes true because she could not blow out the candle because of her giggles.  The party was success and the girls all giggled and laughed throughout the entire party.  

 

Clifty Falls State Park

We visited Clifty Falls State Park over the weekend.  We left after Zachary got off work and arrived in a light drizzle, set up our tent and had a few hours of nicer weather before we went to bed.  During the night the rain really come down, and we discovered our tent was not waterproof.  We ended up putting the pop-up canopy over the tent with a tarp, Hyrum joined me and Kyle put his new raincoat over his head for the drips and we made it through the night.  The rain lasted until about 7:30am and then we had a beautiful day to explore the park.

The Fire Tower

The Fire Tower provided beautiful views of the park and the Ohio River.

The Nature Center

The Nature Center was small but very nice.  I liked watching the birds, Wendy, Eric, and Sabrina put together a difficult puzzle of a leaf, and we all enjoyed seeing the snakes, turtles, and toads. 

Hoffman Falls

This falls was very difficult to see from the lookout point, because of the trees and the amount of water falling.  The last picture is the dropoff of the water, where it then fell 78ft.

Tunnel Falls

This was the tallest falls we saw at 83ft.  It was beautiful and the kids were pleased it was just a short walk

Big and Little Clifty Falls

Little Clifty Falls is a 60ft drop, these are pictures from the trail and the lookout point.

 Big Clifty Falls is also a 60ft drop.  The difference between big and little clifty falls are the cascades that are part of Big Clifty Falls.  Both were seen from the same trail which was a bit muddy, but considering the downpour that night before it was quite nice.

Happy Birthday, Eric!

Happy 15th Birthday to a wonderful young man.  Eric is a great brother who allows his younger siblings to participate with him in activities.  He enjoys gaming on any system.  He is a good student and very conscientious of his responsibilities and wants to get in and get them done.  We are definitely glad he is part of our family.

 He had a low key birthday the day after we returned from AGM.  In fact we made it home after midnight so we were able to wish him a happy birthday then.  He had a slow cooker lava cake which was a hit with all the kids.

The day before AGM we all had to take Covid tests.  It was a trial for some, but we all tested negative.

 Thursday, June 2, 2022

Thursday was a day of travel and then the Welcome night.  It was at the Mandalay Bay Pools so the pool was closed for a few hours, so we went next door to the Excalibur and used their pools.  The Welcome celebration was a lot of fun.  Many of us got our faces painted, enjoyed good food, listened to Bruno Mars, watched fireworks, and most important renewed friendships.

Friday June 3, 2022

Kyle spent the day in meetings, but the kids and I spent our day at the pool.  We particularly enjoyed the wave pool and the lazy river.  That evening the kids had their events while Kyle and I went to the adult formal.  The younger two had an evening based around the circus and visited the Shark Bay Aquarium which is part of the hotel.  The teens went to an event at the Luxor that had a lot of video games.  Wendy met with some friends she made a few years ago at AGM which was fun.  Kyle and I enjoyed some yummy food, fun entertainment including dancers, a fashion show, fire, and the pianist, John Legend

Saturday June 4, 2022

The final day of activities.  We spent time as a family at the pool;  ate lunch on the balcony of a hotel restaurant; and participated in the family event at Area 15 in Las Vegas.  Zachary and Eric won a ride on Haley's Comet a hang gliding ride.  The girls got their hair done in colorful poufy buns.  We were also able to visit a Wild Africa exhibit that was fun.
