Fall Break: Hocking Hills Hikes (Days 3,4,&5)

We spent 3 days at a cabin in the Hocking Hills.  Each day we went on a hike, and enjoyed the beautiful changing colors of Fall.  This is a beautiful part of Ohio and had numerous gorgeous hikes up and down the hills.

Boch Nature Preserve Hike

This picture was taken seconds before the log they were standing on broke.  No children were hurt in the taking of this picture, but there was some adrenalin pumping.

Natural Bridge Hike

Old Man's Cave Hike

Cedar Falls Hike

Ash Cave Hike

An interesting thing that happened on this hike was a wedding.  We got to the cave just when a couple were starting to say their vows.  It was a fun thing to watch.

Fall Break: Flying and Flowers (days 1&2)

Fall Break (October10-15)  took us to Ohio.  We started by stopping in Dayton for a day.  We visited the National Air Force Museum,  5 hangers full of planes from the Wright brothers to Satellites in space.  I thought some of the most interesting ones were in the research and development section, ideas that did not work.

Our second day was in Columbus.  We did a little shopping and then visited the Franklin Conservatory.  It was fabulous.

17 years of fun is just getting more exciting!

Zachary turned 17.  It was a Saturday and Kyle had a Ham Radio class all day, so it was quite relaxed until he got home.  We then opened gifts, had some yummy cake and ice cream and celebrated Zach.  He is an amazing young man.  His claim to fame at high school is his beard which he trims regularly.  He has a very creative mind and enjoys making D&D stories and characters.  He is a great brother.  I am grateful he is mine.

The Thursday before his birthday Zachary became an officially licensed driver.  I do not think he plans on using his driving privileges very often, but it could come in handy with youth activities and early morning seminary.  He is a good driver, I feel safe when I'm in the passenger seat, for which I am grateful.
