Hawaii Days 1 & 2

Our first plane and a picture of the new Ninjago book Zachary got for the trip.
Zachary and I at the Honolulu airport.

Ripe, Delicious Bananas
Day 1:  We left our home around 8:00am.  Our first flight was at 10:00 from Jackson and then from Dallas to Honolulu.  We arrived in Hawaii at 4:30 their time, 9:30 our time.  I was very, very pleased with how well the kids did on the flight.  They each had a backpack filled with stuff just for them and they did wonderfully.  Hyrum wanted to move around a bit, but we walked the aisles a few times and he was great.    We arrived in Hawaii, met with Larae, rented our car and drove out to the North Shore where our little Kottage was.  After getting settled, walking to the store for some groceries, and discovering real bananas in the banana tree we went to bed.  So our children were up from 7:00am - 1:30am the following day our time.  Eric took a 1 hour nap and Hyrum about 2 hours.  They slept fantastic and woke up the next morning ready to go, very little jet lag at all, what a blessing.

Day 2:  We went to church that morning and had a wonderful time.  We even met some of Kyle's work friends who had also come early.  That afternoon we spent napping, and playing around the Kottage.  The backyard had a tree perfect for climbing, sand and sand toys, a hammock and lounge chairs.  We also took a walk to the beach that was by us.  I should have known that my kids, Zachary, could not help but getting wet.  Eric loved the sand and we buried him up to his neck and then Wendy had to get in on the fun as well.  I am very grateful that the place we stayed had a washer and dryer.  We had a great time and learned that Hyrum loves the taste of Hawaii sand :)

So the first 2 days were a great start to our amazing vacation.  Stay tuned for more!

A preview of Hawaii

Here are pictures of the family wearing matching shirts, Zachary climbing trees behind our Kottage, Hyrum enjoying the drums at the Polynesian Cultural Center, Eric buried in the sand, Kyle at the temple, and Wendy taking a break from the waves.  It was a beautiful  place to be and we had a wonderful time.  I will try to post in a bit more detail after I get unpacked and back in our time zone :)
