Wendy's First Day

Wendy has been super excited to be big enough to go to preschool.  All summer she has been asking when she could go, and then when the boys went back the asking became even more frequent.  Well, the day finally came.  Wendy had her first day of preschool on Monday and absolutely loved it.  She said, "I loved the music, and snack, and my teacher."  She told me there are nice kids in her class.  It is exciting to see her so excited, but sad to see my Wendy girl grow up.

First Day of School

Zachary was excited to be starting school and being a part of the "Pathways program" the districts gifted program. He gets to go to a special class for 5 hours each week.  His teacher Mrs. Peeler seems to be perfect for him; stays to a schedule, expects good behavior, but allows plenty of questions.  Here are his words about the first day of school, "It was good.  My teacher thinks I am super smart, and I have made many friends.  Everything is going good."

Eric said about the first day, "My teacher is Mrs. Ross.  I liked lunch, and I liked my snack.  I liked my friends.  I have a friend by me at the school bus."  This was great to hear after his morning started a little grumpy (as can be seen in the picture above)  The only person in his class that he knows from last year is Madeline.  He was super excited about this because she is his friend who he might marry when he gets big.  :)  He was also leery of riding the bus home this year.  That problem was worked out when he found that Whitman another friend from last year is on the same bus.

Here are Hyrum and Wendy getting ready to go meet the bus.  We walk down to the corner and have a grand time with pinecones, weeds, and sticks.  Although it sure is a hot wait.

The Reservoir

We live right next to the Barnett Reservoir, but have never been out in it.  I recently found out there is a place you can swim, so we went the day before school started.

I did not get any pictures of us actually in the water, but you can see the swimming area behind Wendy.  The boys also had fun climbing in a tree near our car.  It was a fun afternoon and Hyrum only tried to drown himself twice.

July 2013

Museum of Natural History

We had a great time at the Museum of Natural History.  There was a special exhibit on Reptiles, we saw a lot of live snakes, geckos, turtles, and even an alligator.  There were also walking trails which were fun to be on, especially since we knew that we could go back into an air conditioned building after our walk.

Swimming Lessons

We continued to participate in swimming lessons out in Canton.  Zachary and Eric did better at getting their arms out of the water, and going on their backs.  Wendy learned how to swim on her own and even went to the deep end a few times.  She was quite proud of herself.  Now she is working on breathing.

Odds 'n Ends

We had a fun filled month.  The weather seemed quite mild for a July in Mississippi so we spent a lot of time outside.  We also spent a lot of time pretending and just enjoying one another's company.

A weekend in Nauvoo

We were able to visit Nauvoo for a weekend.  My parents were there, and a 10 hour drive is a lot shorter than a 30 hour drive so it just had to be done.  We had a great time.  Here are a few pictures of our adventures.  We had fun making ropes, learning about making bread, dancing in the cultural hall, playing th the country fair, watching the pageant, and Kyle and I were able to go to the temple.  It was a great vacation.
