Rotorua Adventures

Our day in Rotorua was fun filled.  We started stop at Okere Falls Scenic Reserve.   We then headed to Hell's Gate Geothermal Park and Mud Bath Spa.  Our final stop was at Te Puia.

Okere Falls Scenic Reserve
We went on a hike to 3 waterfalls, Okere Falls, Trout Pool Falls, and Taheke Falls.  It was beautify weather and a great start to the day.

Hell's Gate Geothermal Park and Mud Baths
The next stop was a fun and smelly one.  The kids definitely did not like the sulfury smell, but it brought back good memories for me so I did not mind.  We first went on a short hike to see the geothermal features.  We then took a dip in the mud baths and finished with a relaxing soak in the hot mineral pools.  We all smelled like sulfur, but were all more relaxed.

Te Puia
We participated in the Te Puia experience.  We started with a tour of the place, including Pohutu Geyser, Kiwi birds, and the Mauri Arts and Crafts Institute.  We then enjoyed a fun Mauri Cultural show.  It included a Poi dance that Tammie, Wendy and I participated in and a Haka that Rob, Todd, and Zachary did.  After the performance we had a delicious dinner, and then hot chocolate as we visited the geyser again.

It was a long day, but a day well spent.
