South Island: Day 3

Day 3 started in Paparoa National Park.  We explored some caverns.  The kids enjoyed this activity because they each had a head light, and could get dirty.  We also went on a short hike to Pancake Rocks and visited a few souvenir shops.

After exploring we drove to Westport, a city about an hour north.  After settling into our room we visited the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony and played on the beach.
The seals were the most active I have ever seen.  It was fun to see them moving around, rather than just basking in the sun.

These signs were just past the lookout to the seal colony.  They let us know how far away we were from many cities worldwide, pretty interesting.

  1. Beautiful scenery! Did you find any sea glass on the beach? I looked for Idaho Falls on the road signs, but the closest I saw was Vancouver.
