Whanganui

The playground right outside our cabin was covered in spiderwebs.  Hyrum was the brave soul that played there anyway.

There was a super fun bounce mat.  Kyle and I even got in on the action.
The birds at the campground.   I loved seeing all the colors and hearing all the songs.

Kowhia Park was a short stop, but a fun one.  They had all sorts of play equipment built around nursery rhymes.

Durie Hill Elevator was a fun little trip we parked at the bottom and walked through the 213 meter pedestrian tunnel to the elevator.  The tunnel had great acoustics for yodeling. The tunnel and elevator were built in 1919 to provide access to the neighborhood on the hill.  It was a bumpy elevator ride, but fun.  At the top is a spiral staircase to a platform to see the city.  It is a nice view.  There is also a World War I memorial that Zachary and Hyrum chose to climb the 176 steps to the top.

We drove to the beach, but didn't really play as there was a lot of driftwood, we instead spent time at the nearby park.

  1. So was the play mat harder to jump on then a trampoline?

    1. It was a lot like a trampoline in the middle, but harder on the edges.
