Bratislava, Slovakia

The capital of Slovakia, Bratislava was our first stop.  We were just there for the morning and then cruised to Vienna.  They are the closest capital cities in the world.  Bratislava is a city with a history of being parts of many different ruling families.  We participated in a short walking tour and learned a bit, and then explored on our own for a little. We also learned that our maid, Michaela was from Bratislava which was fun.

The statue of the man coming out of the manhole was just fun.  Tradition has it that if you touch his hat you will return to Bratislava.  We touched it so hopefully we'll go back someday.

Michael's Gate and Tower
This gate and tower is the last standing gate into Bratislava's old town.  It was a beautiful square with a lot of pedestrian roads and quaint shops branching off from it.

The Slovak National Theater, and up on the hill is the Castle (Where the Hungarian Crown Jewels were stored for 200 years), the famous UFO bridge.

 St Martin's Cathedral
This was the coronation church for Hungary and the Austrian-Hungarian Empire from 1563-1830
